District of Columbia Library Association: The Lubuto Library Project Wins Grant for Early Grade Reading in Developing World
Friday, September 21, 2012: The Lubuto Library Project was one of 32 winners of the All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development grant – a joint initiative of USAID, World Vision and the Australian Agency for International Development. The grant rewards innovative solutions for improving early grade reading in the developing world and was given to Lubuto for their proposal LubutoLiteracy: Zambian teaching and learning materials for the digital age. LubutoLiteracy teaches children to read using low cost digital platforms with material written in their mother tongues. The lessons are developed by teachers and youth and benefit highly vulnerable out of school youth. Read the article.
