CBS 60 Minutes: Gorilla Doctors Life-Saving Veterinary Care Helps Save Endangered Gorillas
Saturday, October 9, 2016: Aid for Africa Member Gorilla Doctors is featured in special episode on their work to save mountain and eastern lowland gorillas (or Grauer’s) in Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo. Staffed almost entirely by African wildlife veterinarians, Gorilla Doctors provide emergency care to seriously injured and ill gorillas and to infant gorillas rescued from poachers. They also closely monitor gorillas for signs of injury or illness, undertake gorilla health research to direct management and conservation efforts and conduct surveillance in other wildlife populations for diseases that could threaten gorillas.
