BBC News: World Bicycle Relief Program Protects Zimbabwe’s Girls
Saturday, April 23, 2011: In rural Zimbabwe, many young girls have to walk miles through the bush to school each day, running the risk of falling victim to sexual abuse and prostitution. World Bicycle Relief is providing hundreds of orphans and vulnerable children with bicycles to shorten the journey and make it safer for them to travel to school. The BBC’s Brian Hungwe reports on the success of a program that gets girls to school safely. To date, World Bicycle Relief has provided more than 60,000 bikes to impoverished communities throughout Africa. View the news story
