Planet Aid

Collects and recycles clothing from the US to support sustainable projects primarily in Africa to help the poorest communities improve incomes, food production, health, education.

Since 1997, Planet Aid has helped millions of the neediest people around the world through HIV/AIDS prevention, education, food production, and income-generation programs. We work mostly in rural communities to build capacity and mobilize our program participants to take the future into their own hands. In Africa, we work with partners in Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Many in rural Africa face the challenge of absolute poverty daily, and the AIDS epidemic has added to the struggle with disastrous effects on every level of African society. Planet Aid’s programs make a difference in the lives of the poor.

  • Teacher Training Colleges provide comprehensive, creative, and accredited training for primary school teachers who also learn to spearhead community development.
  • Vocational Schools provide youth with skills needed to get jobs or to become entrepreneurs in their communities.
  • planet-aid-photo2Child Aid programs help families and communities improve the lives of their children through health campaigns, education, and income generating projects.
  • Total Control of the Epidemic (TCE) programs equip communities with information and encouragement needed to mobilize against HIV/AIDS.
  • HOPE projects bring the community together to provide support, treatment, and care to people living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Children’s Towns and day schools for children give orphans and otherwise vulnerable children a safe place to study and learn necessary life skills.
  • Farmers Clubs support small-scale farms by introducing better farming techniques and a greater variety of crops for consumption and sale.
