Last Mile Health
Founded by survivors of Liberia’s civil war, Last Mile Health specializes in training and managing health workers who bridge the gap between clinics and remote villages, where there is no established healthcare.
These “front line” health workers bring essential services to the doorsteps of people living in “the last mile.” The approach was developed and is ongoing in Liberia, but can be adapted, localized and deployed anywhere in the world where remote communities lack access to healthcare.
Currently in Liberia, Last Mile Health is using Ebola response efforts to strengthen long-term systems to ensure we not only end the current epidemic, but build a health system where all Liberians can access health care no matter where they live.
Last Mile Health believes that successful healthcare delivery is achieved when community members, local government officials, national policymakers, private sector and global partners work together.
The result is that Last Mile Health saves lives in the world’s most remote villages. Our goal is to expand our model throughout Africa and beyond to ensure access to quality healthcare for the one billion people living in remote communities around the world.
We will do this by recruiting, training, equipping, managing and paying local health professionals who bring critical services to the doorsteps of people living in the hardest to reach places on earth. We go where others don’t go to prove that it’s possible.
Last Mile Health is classified as a 501(c)(3) organization. Click below to view our most recent independent audit and IRS Form 990.
