In these difficult economic times, as financial and political issues take over the news cycle, it is easy to forget that our neighbors in other parts of the world are in need. But consider these facts:
- In the United States, on average, people can expect to live to 78. In some 30 African countries life expectancy is less than 50. And in Botswana, most people do not live past the age of 35.
- In 22 African countries, 1 child out of every 10 dies before his first birthday. In the U.S. the number is about 7 out of 1000.
- In the United States 99 percent of Americans can read and write. In ten of the poorest African countries, the literacy rate is less than 30 percent.
The challenges seem insurmountable, but they are not. Throughout Africa, our member organizations are working with their African partners on the ground to build a better future. They need your help. Every donation makes a difference. Even the smallest donation can have an impact.
Aid for Africa members make the most of every dollar. To learn more about a member and make a donation, click on the first letter of its name below. You may also browse our full list of members by name only or search for members by country or issue of interest.
